Sex, Lies, and Ron Eckstine P.2

In order for you to understand who this Ron Eckstine fella is and why he has the relevance that he has in the entertainment industry let’s go a little back. Okay let’s go waaaay back. Back to 1914 when his father the late jazz singer Billie Eckstine was born. Now I have no way to prove or disprove that Billie Eckstine was indeed his father as I am only telling you what he (Ron) told me. I never saw his birth certificate. But let’s give him the benefit of the doubt. So let’s assume that Billie Eckstine really was his father.

Who was Billie Eckstine?

Billie Eckstine was a ballad singer and bandleader of the Swing Era. His smooth baritone voice was something else in the 1940’s which broke down barriers. He was the first romantic black male singer in popular music to have white women controversially swoon over him. His pop hits included; Prisoner of Love, My Foolish Heart, and I Apologize. Billie Eckstine first wanted to be a football player but after breaking his collar bone he turned to music instead. By 1944 Eckstine was way into the swing of things when he formed his own jazz band which consisted of some of the greats; Miles Davis, Art Blakey, and Fats Navarro. Billie Eckstine was on top of the world in the mid 40’s and was even affectionately nicknamed “Mr. B” He was also able to play instruments including the trumpet, the valve trombone and the guitar. He was extremely talented. (Too bad the same can’t be said about his son Ron Eckstine who has his “talent” tucked between his legs) His father was 78 years old when he died on March 8, 1993 leaving behind seven children; Ken, Ron, William, Edward, Guy, C.C., and Gina Eckstine.

In other words ladies and gentlemen, Ron is like the male version of Paris Hilton. He was born into fame and riches. Having a famous father as his anchor he takes advantage of this fact to give himself clout and prestige when recruiting young girls. Young girls who are new to the entertainment business, square, naive, desperate and hungry....girls like me.

Sex, Lies, and Ron Eckstine P.1

Fame, Fortune, the adulation of millions of fans, rubbing shoulders with the finest celebrities, heck even politicians, sipping caviar in five, six, eight hundred dollars a night hotels, cruising in your own jaguar, mercedes benzs, BMWs, being chauffeured in fancy silky black to snow white limousines to the finest Hollywood parties, clubs and movie stars homes, basically having the world at your fingertips. If all of this sounds "just dreamy" to an already experienced 30, 40 or 50 year old, imagine what that sounds like to the ears of an inexperienced just-starting-out-with-life 23 year old which was how old I was when Ron Eckstine entered my life. The person who promised everything I just described....and more.

A little about Me:

I am what most people consider a "good girl." I obeyed my parents, I got straight A's in school, I did my homework, I didn't have sex on a first date, nor the second date nor the third date. Heck I never had sex at all. I am a virgin and at 30 years old I can still proudly BOAST that I still am. I am saving myself for marriage which is a belief that my parents instilled in me since I was a baby. No. I am not religious FREAK by any means but I do have my own personal strong beliefs in a mighty powerful God. I was basically a good girl with an average lifestyle. I didn't own a fancy home, but it was modest, cozy and large enough to fit me, my mom, dad, brother, my dog and my two parakeets.

I have always been a veeeeeery ambitious young woman with dreams of acting, modeling and making it with my stories. Because I am so ambitious I programmed myself to take advantage of every opportunity that "made sense" if they should ever come my way. So I took advantage of plenty of opportunities that could propel me into the limelight and allow me to exercise my Godgiven talents; With one of my biggest being able to compete for the Miss Florida USA pageant. Nope, I didn't take home the crown (even though I competed twice)I quickly learned that brains, beauty and even skin color alone is not all they're looking for in these types of prestigious competitions. "Mr. Benjamin" is the REAL determining factor. But what really upset me was that absolutely NO CONNECTIONS were made to atleast further my modeling and acting dreams. Needless to say, I was terribly depressed. This was not my first rejection at reaching for the limelight, mind you as I was also rejected by every modeling agency I ever approached.

I consider myself a fairly attractive young woman. At 5'7", caramel skin, 135 lbs (give or take a few)below the shoulders long dark hair, almond-shaped dark brown eyes, slender build, and bubbly personality most people would had expected me to have made it onto the cover of a simple clothing line catalog (like Macy's) at the very least. But no, the simple ambitious young woman with the heart of gold wasn't enough to attract the "big wigs".

Trying to make it as a writer was even tougher. I submitted my manuscripts to every major publisher I could think of. The rejection letters piled up like fall leaves in. But I wasn't one to give up so easily. I never was. This is why I couldn't resist myself from replying to the message I found in my inbox on a cool Sunday afternoon of March 2nd, 2002 at precisely 2:12 pm.

"Your Pic is beautiful. My compliments. I'd like to hear you sing. I'm an Artist Personal Manager based in Los Angeles, I've recording projects in LA, that are adding singers."

Okay, I couldn't sing, but maybe, just maybe this dude would be able to use me for SOMETHING. Little did I know that that "Something" had very, very little to do with what "I had in mind" regarding modeling, acting, and being featured in music videos opportunities.

The name printed at the bottom was: Ron Eckstine
